At a gala function held at Devi Cinema on Wednesday morning (15.03.2000), the audio cassette of 'Kandukonden Kandukonden' was released by Actor Kamalhassan. It was received by Kalyani Menon, mother of the Director Mr. Rajiv Menon. Besides the film crew comprising, Producer Kalaipuli Dhanu, Film Music Director Mr.A.R.Rehman, Film Director Mr.Rajiv Menon, Hero Ajit, Film Lyricist Mr.Vairamuthu, Diologue Writer Sujatha and Camera Man Mr. Ravi K.Chandran, a galaxy of film stars were present at the function including Directors Mr. K. Balachandar and Mr. K. Bharathiraja, President of the Producers' Union Mr. KRG, Producer AVM Saravanan, Devi Theatres owner Mr. Varadharaju Chettiar, etc.

Lyricist Vairamuthu urged A.R.Rehman to score his music in such a way that Tamil music lovers would be able to understand and appreciate the lyrics. A notable feature was that most of the star invitees at the function were clad in white silk dhoti and shirt.
