26 Jun An
Indian composition titled ‘Ekam Satyam’ has been
specially created for an international charity concert to be staged by
Michael Jackson in Munich Sunday. A live performance of the song will be
staged by Jackson and A R Rahman.
The song has been created by Bharat Bala and A R Rahman, who
worked together on the Vande Mataram project, and sponsored by
the Hinduja Foundation.
The live performance will feature numerous Indian dancers, led by Prabhudeva
and Shobana, and will be choreographed by Raju Sundaram.
Costumes have been designed by Manish Malhotra.
The concert will be held in aid of the International Red Cross
Society, Nelson Mandela’s Children and the UNESCO.
According to a spokesperson for the Hindujas, the concert will give
the western world an awareness and taste of Indian music and philosophy.
He says the idea germinated after Bharatbala and his wife Kanika
(who has written the lyrics) met Vinoo S Hinduja, who’s a
friend of Michael Jackson. They in turn spoke to Rahman.
According to the spokesperson, the emphasis was on creating a song
with an attitude.
